Re-surfacing works will be carried out on the A697
in Longframlington village from Monday 2nd November and
the works are expected to last up to two weeks.
Works will be carried out to repair the
base of the carriageway before resurfacing operations are carried
out on both Sunday 8th and Sunday 15th
November.
The road will remain open throughout the
works and traffic will be controlled under a convoy system with two
way traffic lights.
Delays are to be expected although every
effort will be made to minimise disruption.
Letters have been sent to residents and
businesses in the vicinity informing them of the section of road
that will be worked on. Those living and working nearby will still
be able to access their properties.
The re-surfacing works will be carried
by our contractor, Rainton’s Ltd with Northumberland County Council
supervising the works.
Councillor Alan Armstrong,
Executive Member for Highways and Transport at the County Council
said: “Although small delays are to be expected
during these works, the road will remain open at all times so we
expect minimum disruption. We would encourage people who plan to
use this route to allow more time for their journey and apologise
for any inconvenience this will cause.”
This project is one of many to be
undertaken by Northumberland County Council this year as part of a
£18 million programme to maintain its 5,000 kilometre road
network.
